Offering Mindfulness Meditation in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh
Peaceful Refuge Sangha in Ashland, Oregon offers mindfulness meditation in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh, Zen monk, teacher and peace activist. Ashland is located in Southern Oregon, in the beautiful Rogue Valley. All are welcome to attend our weekly meditation gatherings, and to join in classes and special events when available.
Mission Statement
We come together to practice the art of mindful living, building community through learning to be fully present to ourselves, one another, and our world. People from all backgrounds and at all stages of their spiritual journey are welcome to visit occasionally or to attend regularly.
Theme of Practice, 2025
Peaceful Refuge Sangha and Tiger Mountain Sangha
Welcome Everything
Sit quietly, settling your body and mind. Now, invite the phrase, “Welcome Everything.” What happens in your body? What thoughts and feelings arise?
This invitation is the doorway to self-knowledge and to learning how to respond to life as awakened beings. Through this exploration together, our sangha continues to weave a strong and beautiful fabric of love that can anchor us through any challenge and train us to be agents of evolutionary consciousness.
Dharma teacher Barbara Casey will offer teachings each quarter of 2025 as we embark on this journey of awakening together. The first talk was offered on Tuesday, February 18. See the Written Teachings tab for the text of this talk.
Dharma talk #2 from Barbara Casey:
Everything Matters
Tuesday, April 29, 2025
In the first quarter of this year, we explored how and why we practice to welcome everything, to push nothing away.
We'll continue by investigating how Everything Matters. The smallest thought, word, or action affects the whole, in ways we will never be able to comprehend.
We learn to open to the miracles happening within and around us every day, and the doorway to the infinite opens. We take refuge in the teaching of the dharma and the ethical path we have been given, as methods to develop a life that contributes to the healing and transformation our world needs so badly.
"This, my dear, is the greatest challenge to being alive. To witness injustice in the world and not allow it to consume our light."
Thich Nhat Hanh
How do we do this? Let's explore together, on April 29 at 6 pm.
